Hendersonville police officer fired, two others disciplined in March shooting

According to the Hendersonville Times-news: Hendersonville City Council members said that while they regret a March shooting by police in Green Meadows, they believe the correct disciplinary action was taken by the chief of police. One of the three Hendersonville police officers involved in the controversial shooting has been fired, and another was suspended for two weeks without pay for failing to follow department policy, according to Chief Herbert Blake. The third has been reprimanded. Breaking-and-entering suspect Fletcher Smiley of Hendersonville was shot in the arm by officers who thought he was reaching for a weapon as he ran from authorities, Blake said in March.
