The boil-water advisory below was rescinded by the city of Hendersonville in an announcement sent Aug. 20 at 8:36 a.m.
Origial Boil-Water announcement, issued Friday, august 19, 2011
As a result of the new water main construction that occurred this morning, customers in this area experienced low to no water pressure. Due to this loss of pressure for an extended period of time, it is necessary for the City to issue a BOIL WATER ADVISORY to its customers in this area.
Hendersonville, NC – August 19, 2011: Blythe Construction Co. and Hendersonville Water and Sewer crews just completed a new water main construction project in this area which resulted in a scheduled water outage to customers served by City water in the Upward Rd. area east of I-26 this morning. The City experienced low or no water pressure in this affected which will increase the potential for back-siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the City’s water system. The affected portions of the water system are being flushed at this and will be tested.
Therefore, the North Carolina Division of Environmental Health and Hendersonville Water and Sewer advises that when water service is restored to this area, water customers on the City’s water system along Upward Rd. east of I-26 to Howard Gap Rd. and including all adjacent roads and streets (listed below), should BOIL ALL WATER used for human consumption (including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and washing hands) or use bottled water. Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water. Bacteriological testing will be performed in the affected areas that have lost water pressure before this advisory can be lifted
This advisory is only for water customers on and in the vicinity of Upward Rd. located east of I-26 to Howard Gap Rd.
