Air quality problems continue Thursday, June 9: code orange on peaks; yellow in valley

Air quality problems continue Thursday, June 9, 2011 — which has been classified a code YELLOW air quality forecast day for the valleys, and code ORANGE for the ridges, of Henderson County and surrounding WNC counties, according to the North Carolina Air Quality Forecast Center.

Yellow means that unusually sensitive people should consider limiting prolonged outdoor exertion outdoors; orange is deemed as “unhealthy for sensitive groups” (an air quality action day).

    In Buncombe County, there is also the WNC Regional Air Quality Agency, whose site is at http://www.wncairquality.org/ .
